15 OVER THE TOP HOTEL HONEYMOON SUITES

These romantic hotels come with amenities like plunge pools, in-room spas, and 24-hour room service.

Ahhhhh..! , hotels with honeymoon suites. If you have finally booked the venue for your wedding, this is the category you're likely to research next. And luckily, it's a fun one. For certain occasions, a hotel is truly at the heart of the travel experience, and the substance of your memories. Many couples' honeymoons are such occasions. The place you stay at can set the mood for the entire trip and that mood should be romantic, sexy, luxurious, and far from ordinary.

Below, we have 15 hotels worthy of a honeymoon stay in locations around the world, all with unforgettable and romantic suites to book. Prepare to be dazzled by the options. There are villas, luxury safari camp tents, oceanfront suites, and more.

1. COMO SHAMBHALA ESTATE, BANJAR BEGAWAN, BALI

COMO Shambhala Estate covers 23 acres in Ubud, Bali. Launching its own sophisticated interpretation of wellness.

Hindu water blessings and chakra healers are just as accessible here as the sauna, steam room, and infinity pool. Verdant, green jungle views greet you as you arrive at the estate, a designer health retreat perched on the hills above the Ayung River. The five residences house 30 suites, each with its own pool. Stand-alone villas have private pools, and the romantic, made-for-honeymoons one-bedroom villas come with their own treatment rooms.

2. GRAND HOTEL TIMEO, A BELMOND HOTEL, TAORMINA

Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo was the first hotel built in Taormina, but all these years later it still dazzles guests. The hotel overlooks the medieval village's terra-cotta rooftops; beyond that, glorious Mount Etna.

Manicured gardens, grandiose guest rooms, a wellness center, and a Literary Terrace once frequented by D.H. Lawrence, Truman Capote, and Tennessee Williams are a few hotel highlights. Inside lies, a 16-seat Michelin starred restaurant, Otto Geleng.

Next: the suites. Located in the Timeo Building, the luxury accommodations are outfitted in a dreamy Italian baroque aesthetic. The bathrooms are marble, the terrazas are spacious, and the views of the Ionian sea are immaculate. The Suite Life package includes a Champagne welcome, daily breakfast, $98 spa credit, and $147 food and beverage credit.

3. CAP JULUCA, A BELMOND HOTEL, ANGUILLA

As far as hotels with honeymoon suites go, the gleaming white-domed Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel in Anguila, is a swoon-worthy Caribbean accommodation.

Originally opened in 1988, the long-standing hotel has undergone many changes from decade to decade, but one constant is its laid-back, sensuous aura.

This can be felt in the romantic suites and villas. The beachfront one-bedroom suite will have you feeling some kind of way with a plush king-size bed, 24-hour host service, and wide-open ocean views from a private, shaded terrace. The hotel's Mark the Occasion package includes a Champagne bottle welcome, a 60-minute couples massage, a private dinner on the beach, and daily breakfast service.

4. VOLAS LIFESTYLE HOUSES, GREECE

There are plenty of Santorini hotels with incredible views—the most desirable places to stay balance on the rim of a 1,000-foot cliff. But none have the spare, ethereal bone structure of Perivolas. Suites are sculpted from brushed concrete, pressed into arched doorways and barreled ceilings, like secluded grottos where you and your newly minted spouse can hide away.

At the hushed restaurant beside a pool, the chef cures, smokes, and ferments local ingredients into unfussy dishes; at a small, soulful spa, the space streams with light. While the rest of Santorini bustles with tourists, Perivolas is unhurried, unflashy, and yes, unspoiled.

5. BORGO EGNAZIA, ITALY

The dreamily beautiful Borgo Egnazia is one of the loveliest places to stay in all of Italy.

Celebrities (Madonna, the Beckhams) keep the delightful Puglian resort Borgo Egnazia in the news. The heart of this hotel, however, lies not in the villas where they hide away, but in the pretty piazzas of Il Borgo and La Corte.

It's all dreamily beautiful The sunlit tufa limestone, the dusky lanes between hotel rooms.

Suites are soaring and elegant, with cool stone underfoot, mini posies of dried lavender on the shelves, huge linen cushions, and sun-trap terraces. They are retreats in themselves, some with their own little kitchens, others with swimming pools, or sea views from the rooftops. The restaurants are smart, with traditional Italian spatterware plates and bowls, and food that's straight from the fields you see around you: tomatoes, eggplants, pasta made with local semolina flour, very good olive oil.

At night the entire place is lit by lanterns, smoking into the warm air. Sometimes a bonfire crackles in the central square.

6. TURTLE BAY RESORT, KANUKU OANU, HAWAII

Located on Oahu’s North Shore, Turtle Bay Resort has everything to keep you and your partner busy when you’re not lounging on the beach, from a pair of scenic golf courses to off-road Segway tours. When not teeing up, scooting out, surfing, snorkelling, or looking for wildlife, soak up some local culture during an on-site luau.

The resort's North Shore Honeymoon & Romance Package includes a bottle of prosecco, a decadent chocolate cake for two, a romantic picnic with artisan cheese, crostini, hummus, crudité with pita bread, and your choice of white, rosé, or sparkling wine. A 50-minute coconut lava shell couple's massage and pedicure round the romantic package out.

7. COTTAR’S 1920S SAFARI CAMP, NAIROBI KENYA

For a honeymoon that is as compelling and transformative as it is romantic, there is Cottar's 1920s Safari Camp in Nairobi, Kenya.

Experiences include day and night game drives for spotting wildlife, bush walks, foraging, stargazing, pool time, and seasonal waterfall swims.

The nine tents on-site (including two honeymoon tents, four double tents, and three family suites), all have ensuite bathrooms, and some even have living rooms with fireplaces. There is also a spa and canvas safari bath on offer, and a mess tent with fine dining and a great cocktail program.

8. WALDORF ASTORIA LOS CABOS PEDREGAL, MEXICO

A Condé Nast Travellers favourite and a repeat Readers' Choice Awards winner can be found in the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. Located on the Baja California beachfront, the super-luxe Waldorf Astoria has a Mediterranean aesthetic, and many of the suites are beachfront, with Pacific Ocean views and dedicated plunge pools.

The made-for-your-honeymoon Sun Kissed Love Package is one of the most stacked we've seen and includes daily breakfast for two at hotel restaurant Don Manuel’s, a floating breakfast for two in a private plunge pool, dinner on the beach, rose petal turn-down service, luxury rides to and from San José del Cabo Airport, and an evening tub soak.

9. FOUR SEASONS RESORT, BORA BORA

A suite you'll truly never forget? An overwater bungalow atop a shallow electric turquoise lagoon. This is what life is like at the Four-Season Bora Bora.

At night, watch the sunset over Mount Otemanu from your private plunge pool or deck—with nary a palm tree or umbrella blocking your water view—or soak in your indoor tub. Bungalows have ladders that let out directly into the lagoon, should you want to take a more expansive swim.

10. SANDALS, GRENADA

This adults-only, all-inclusive Sandals Resort on Pink Gin Beach has 150 rooms and 75 suites. Five minutes from the island's main airport, some oceanfront accommodations come complete with butler service and private pools.

Such accommodations include five different types of dedicated honeymoon suites to choose from at different price points. No matter where you decide to rest your head, take your pick of nine restaurants serving everything from Japanese to French to local Caribbean fare. There's nightly entertainment, including live bands, fashion, and talent shows, beach parties, and a Red Lane Spa to recover from it all.

11. YASAWA ISLAND RESORT AND SPA

At Fiji's Yasawa Island Resort and Spa, its honeymoon suite (called, “Lomalogi,” which means heaven) is hidden from the rest of the resort on a secluded stretch of white, sandy beach. Its soft king-size bed has a pool, sand, and ocean views. There's an indoor shower, an outdoor shower, and a private lap pool to boot.

12. THE ST. REGIS BERMUDA RESORT

If you’re aching for an easy but high-calibre dose of downtime, this new St. Regis fits the bill. Far from late-night revelry and shots on the beach, this is a place for languorous days around the pool, hours set aside for golf and massages, and slow dinners overlooking the ocean.

The food is consistently light and fresh—exactly what you’d want when you’re sitting under the Bermuda sun all day—and incorporates lots of local bounty, particularly the abundant fresh fish. Suites keep up the resort’s upscale but relaxed vibe, with shades of mint green, blue, and light stone used throughout.

13. FOUR REASONS RESORT OAHU AT KO OLINA

Ko Olina means “place of joy” in Hawaiian, and at this 370-room-and-suite Four Seasons resort, you can see why.

The adventurous can take an outrigger canoe onto the water or join a hike to see the area's waterfalls. If it's low-blood-pressure bliss you're after, book a massage on the beach or sit back with a good book on your private lanai with panoramic views of the Pacific.

Head straight to the adults-only infinity pool when you need to cool off: Its location on the western edge of the resort, looking right over the ocean, means you'll be treated to a perfect sunset every night. With four restaurants plus a terrace cafe, you'll have a hard time choosing where to grab a bite, for starters, try Fish House, which prides itself on serving line-to-table selections caught daily.

14. ALILA NAPA VALLEY, UNITED STATES

Is there anything more romantic than good wine? With Beringer Estate vineyards’ cabernet vines as the backdrop, this hotel made quite the splash as soon as it opened.

At the centre is a turn-of-the-century Victorian mansion, now called Acacia House, which includes celebrated chef Chris Cosentino’s restaurant (fresh, seasonal food, and of course, a top-notch wine list) and a romantic porch perfect for aperitivos at sunset.

For an accommodation that flows right into the vineyard, with up-close views, stay in a suite on the ground floor. Many have outdoor soaking tubs, patios, and fire pits. Other romantic offerings: a sumptuous, high-end spa, a tricked-out 24-hour fitness centre, and a yoga studio. The Fireside Romance offer includes two Spa Alila bathrobes that are yours to take home after a stay, a bottle of Barnett Vineyards 2018 Spring Mountain cabernet sauvignon, and a sweet treat whipped up by the restaurant's pastry team.

15. HOTEL WAILEA, MAUI

One of the best stays in Hawaii isn't beachfront—but that's a pro at this luxury adults-only retreat that placed on Traveller’s 2021 and 2020 Readers' Choice Awards list. With 72 suites spread over 15 acres and 180-degree views of neighbouring Lanai and Kaho‘olawe, this resort has the luxury of being deliciously spacious.

Each of the one-bedroom suites have outdoor lanais, ample space, and a multitude of luxe finishes and amenities, no elevators or long hallways needed.

Spa services are available in-suite, and the hotel will ferry guests down the hill to the beach in a sleek Tesla Model X. In the early evening, Birdcage Bar, located in the open-air lobby, makes for a soothing spot to slowly unravel, while a meal under the stars at The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea will have you heading off to bed in a dreamy state of relaxation.
